Surgical Tourism: A Wonder

I was unaware of the term “Surgical Tourism” until I came across the death news of the Argentinian model Solange Magnano. She was also the Former Miss Argentina 1994 who has very recently succumbed to death while undergoing a cosmetic surgery.

Whenever we talk of tourism, surgical tourism is the last word that comes in our mind. Surgical tourism means travelling around the world for surgery. This kind of tourism is quite popular in the western world, especially in Argentina, USA and Canada. Celebrities and wealthy people flock at large in clinics for plastic surgery and elective operations to bring in their various body parts in shape.

The overall goal of Surgical Tourism, as the doctors say, is to provide a quicker solution to enable people a pain free life, and for many, an earlier return to work. I have come to know that there are world-class hospitals in USA, Mexico and in our country to make all necessary arrangements to have timely access to surgical treatments.

People generally love to travel abroad for surgery mainly because it’s quite cheap compared to surgery carried out at home. In USA, UK or Canada, patients are given huge discounts when they come for such treatments.

However plastic surgeries may lead to some critical conditions. It has been seen that in many cases, ladies end up in emergencies in trying to opt for ‘cheap’ operations in some less costly clinics. In trying to save money, it often leads to more expensive outcomes, often leading to death. Health checkups are needed before undergoing such operations, and only trusted, acclaimed surgeons should be consulted.
