Hey, what’s your New Year Resolution for 2010? Have you thought of any, or are just like me letting it go as coolly as possible. I never ever try to think of anything like New Year Resolution because I know very well I will end up doing nothing to fulfill my promise.
I respect people who take an oath (oaths) to do this and do that in the coming year and all the more live up to it! Really hats off to them for keeping their declarations. But in most cases things don’t turn up the way it is supposed to be. For instance, my niece had taken a resolution at the end of 2008 that in 2009, she will reduce weight to about 15 kgs (that time she was 70 plus kgs). Result of gobbling too much chocolates and junk food. But, rather than losing weight, she ended up putting on some extra 10 kgs more.
That’s the outcome of taking an oath and then finally messing it up. But, there are exceptions. For example: my friend’s uncle who used to live in her house had promised that he will quit smoking from the next year, and to our surprise he really did! Since then we have never seen uncle smoking, although Simi (my friend) has carried on a secret investigation in his room in the hope of accidentally discovering some cigarette packets under his pillow or bedside drawer. But, no there was nothing of that sort found in his room.
So, as I was telling, it really needs guts to vow for something and then to realise it. You too can share of any real life incident of taking a resolution and then breaking one or otherwise.
Happy New Year!
