Popularity of Bollywood Movies outside India

Bollywood cinema is flying high in the sky of world’s entertainment industry. Today, Hindi films made in India’s industrial capital, Mumbai (previously called Bombay) is earning millions of dollars and pounds. They are highly successful in attracting audience to the cinema halls and multiplexes and bringing in front of them a dreamland full of drama, happiness, romance and mystery.

The Indian male and female actors are a common face not only in India but in abroad as well. They have thousands and thousands of fans following them wherever they hang around or eat, and many waiting outside a shopping mall or theatre just to get a glimpse of them. Such is the charisma of these celebrities.

With technological advancements and most importantly, coming of the Internet, practically anything and everything in this world is just a click away. You can catch a recent movie review or get hold of a beautiful photo of your best actor in seconds. There are lots of websites providing free photos and sharing secrets of various Bollywood stars (like what’s their favourite dress, favourite holiday destination, etc) starting from Katrina Kaif to Shahrukh Khan and Amir Khan to a host of such other popular actors of Bollywood.

Most important in this context are the blogs launched and maintained by different actors themselves. There’s the legendary Amitabh Bachchan’s blog, Amir Khan’s blog and so on. These blogs act as a two-way channel in making the actors share their feelings and experiences of shooting or may be some film and likewise getting comments and praises from their fans.

Getting back to where I started from, Bollywood movies are seriously making a good business outside India. They have a dedicated fan following who never miss out to check their star’s latest movie release. I simply get astounded to the kind of response these Bollywood celebs get outside our country, like in the Cannes Film Festival or Golden Globe Awards. Great job indeed.
